Path Three is a weaving journey- taking what you learned about the healing applications of plant medicine on Path One with the deeper spiritual expressions of plant work on Path Two and bringing them together into one harmonized expression. This path is suited for those who are interested in taking their work with the herbs further out into the community by making medicine, writing formulas, teaching, working with clients, or serving the people in an apothecary or herbal clinic. This is one-on-one time where the student can have support in refining their work and honing their skill through real life application of all that's been learned, experienced, and dreamed in paths one and two.

Path Three is a combination of traditional one-on-one apprenticeship in a working apothecary with real clients and a guided practicum of curated clinicals and challenges that the student works on between sessions. This is a tough path and will require that all the many tools, talents, experiences, and artes be brought out in service of the good.

The real mysteries of spiritual herbalism are revealed in apprenticeship and the direct transmission of green wisdom. This path is a formal entry into that apprenticeship process and is the gateway to the soil of understanding. Students who successfully complete Pathg Three may be offered further no-cost apprenticeship opportunities.

Path Three consists of 20 hours of in-shop, guided apprenticeship and 5 hours of in-session participatory clinical work under the guidance of either Josh or one of his advanced students. During this time students are able to observe, interact with the community, roll up their sleeves and gain practical working experience in an herbal apothecary, and jump into the flow of doing the work well. They will also be able to sit in on private sessions and will be given space to both ask questions and offer their own inspired input. This is where the seed meets the soil and most students find that they learn more in this path than they ever imagined. This is where we embody the work and all that has been learned and where we are able to hand experience directly from heart to heart. This path is an immersion into the sacredness of mentorship and an opportunity to have all you've learned re-presented and refined to meet who you are as an individual.

In addition to the 25 hours of apprenticeship, students of Path Three will also be given a selection of clinical practicum, formulation and client challenges, and spiritual considerations to work on between hours. These are written specifically for each student to address both their individual strengths and the areas where they may benefit from more work and experience. Students who are invested in the spiritual side of the work will be offered a wealth of direct mentorship and access to deeper teachings along the way.

Path Three graduates are also given opportunities to teach, get shop hours if available, and get letters of recommendation from Josh and other herbalists they work with during the program. Please be aware that as an apprenticeship and practicum there is real work to be done here: making medicine, labeling jars, washing bottles, sweeping the floors, filling herb jars, answering the phone, serving customers, and all the other aspects of being part of a working herb shop & clinic. Real experience!
